How to choose where your notifications reach you

The bell in the app, desktop pop-ups, e-mail, Telegram and SMS. Choose for each kind of alert where it reaches you, from your profile.

Estate CRM tells you when something needs you: a new enquiry, a viewing in 15 minutes, an owner’s agreement about to end. You decide where each alert reaches you.

Where do alerts appear?

  • The bell at the top right of every page. A number shows how many you haven’t read. Click it to see the latest ones, click one to open the contact, listing or calendar day it is about, and click Mark all read to clear the number. All notifications opens the full list.
  • Desktop pop-ups while Estate CRM is open in a browser tab, even when you are working in another window. Click the pop-up to jump straight to the record.
  • E-mail, as always.
  • Telegram, once you connect it.
  • SMS to your own mobile, if your agency has an SMS account (see below).

What kinds of alerts are there?

  • New enquiries and leads assigned to you, from your website, share pages or portal e-mails.
  • Newsletter sign-ups: a client ticked the newsletter box on your website form (bell and pop-ups only).
  • Activity reminders for your viewings, calls, meetings and tasks.
  • Owner agreements ending, 30 and 7 days before the end date and when it has ended. See listing agreements.
  • Google Calendar problems, when the sync stops and needs reconnecting.
  • Data export ready, when the export of your agency’s data can be downloaded.

How do I choose where I get them?

  1. Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar and choose My profile (or click Settings in the bell).
  2. In the Notifications card, tick or untick each box. Each row is a kind of alert, each column a channel. Changes are saved straight away.

Everything is on to start with, except SMS. A dash means that channel isn’t offered for that alert.

Some e-mails always go out and are not in the list: sign-in and security, password resets, invitations, and billing or account-deletion warnings.

How do I turn on desktop pop-ups?

Pop-ups are switched on per browser, because each browser asks your permission once.

  1. Open the bell (or the Notifications card on your profile).
  2. Turn on Desktop alerts on this browser.
  3. When the browser asks, click Allow.

Pop-ups only appear for alerts that arrive while Estate CRM is open in a tab, never for old ones. They come from the bell, so the Bell box must be ticked for that kind of alert. If the switch says the browser blocks notifications, allow them for Estate CRM in the browser’s site settings, then turn it on again.

Can I hear new notifications?

Yes. While Estate CRM is open in a tab, a short chime plays when a new notification arrives, for the kinds of alert you get in the bell. It is on to start with. Turn Sound for new notifications off or on in the bell, on the notifications page or in the Notifications card on your profile. The choice is kept per browser. Browsers only allow sound after you have clicked or typed somewhere on the page, so the first chime comes after that.

How do SMS alerts work?

SMS alerts go to the mobile number in Details on your profile, through your agency’s own SMS account, and are paid from its SMS units. The agency owner connects the account in Settings, SMS (see SMS and WhatsApp). Until then the SMS boxes are greyed out.

To protect your clients, an SMS alert never includes their name, phone number, e-mail or message: only the kind of alert, the listing reference and a link. At most 30 SMS alerts go to one person a day.

How long are notifications kept?

Read notifications are removed after 90 days and unread ones after a year. The records they point to stay in Estate CRM, of course.
